Lukashenko identifies serious challenge in field of migration

LOGOISK, 7 January (BelTA) – As he visited the temple of Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker in Logoisk, Minsk Oblast on 7 January, Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko mentioned a serious challenge in the field of migration, BelTA has learned.

Aleksandr Lukashenko said: “I wanted to warn you that we have plenty of problems domestically as well. And challenges appear all the time. One can say they appear every month. You may not have noticed the latest challenge. And thank god for it, thank to my work, the work of the government, government agencies. The challenge is forced migration. People fleeing from the war. All kinds of people. Russia is swamped with them. God has taken mercy on us till today.”

“But I am already told that people from the East have started coming. Not only those, who wish some hostility and wars upon us. No. People, who want to live, work, earn money, and send some money to the native country in order to feed their kids, are coming. But the problem is that these people are far from the things we have to deal with. They are incompetent. They don’t have vocational training. It is not a big deal either. The key thing is for these people to want to work and learn. Our nation can teach the people. We need workforce. But uncontrolled migration is a disaster,” the Belarusian leader stated.

“I emphasize once again: all kinds of people are coming to us. And a huge number of people transit Belarus to the West. Where they want to go to. And we keep getting accused of facilitating this migration. I have always been honest. We will not protect anyone from migrants. Particularly those, who enforce economic sanctions against us. Why do we have to defend them?” Aleksandr Lukashenko added.
