Lukashenko gifted MAZ bus

MINSK, 21 January (BelTA) - Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko was gifted a MAZ bus as he visited Minsk Automobile Plant (MAZ trademark) on 21 January, BelTA has learned.

The labor collective of the enterprise presented the president with a certificate for a 60-seater commuter bus from MAZ. The bus will be donated to the social and pedagogical center in Zavodskoi District of Minsk. It operates four departments, including a children's social shelter. The institution implements a program of upbringing and protection of the rights and legal interests of children who found themselves in a difficult situation. The center also provides assistance to custody and guardianship bodies in finding families for minors, orphans and children left without parental care, and social, pedagogical and psychological assistance to children and their legal representatives.
“The center needs it,” the head of state noted. "Let them use this bus."

Aleksandr Lukashenko thanked MAZ Director General Valery Ivankovich for the gift and remarked with humor: “I am very happy that you drew the right conclusion from my previous gifts. I came and they gave me a small model... I said: 'Guys, I have done so much for you, and you are giving me this small thing!'. But you gifted me with a whole bus!”

The president emphasized that he is willing to attend the opening of the new MAZ bus factory, which is due to be held before the 80th anniversary of the Victory Day. “We will have a bus ride,” he said.
Aleksandr Lukashenko also emphasized that the state will continue to support the enterprise, but only on one condition: “I am ready to help you. You are like family to me, like children, I could say, whom I saved once [When the enterprise was experiencing difficulties, the president decided to save such large companies as MAZ and provide them with state assistance]. I am ready to do it. But I need results. If you yield results, I will be happy to help”.
