Lukashenko: Everything will be done to preserve peace in Belarus

LOGOISK, 7 January (BelTA) – Everything will be done to preserve peace in the country. Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko made the statement as he visited a church in Logoisk, Minsk Oblast on Orthodox Christmas, 7 January, BelTA has learned.

According to the head of state, economy is the key challenge. “If we stick together, if we endeavor to make lives better, then we will overcome these challenges, too,” the Belarusian leader said.

He also underlined the importance of preserving peace: “As Father Vladimir [the archpriest of the temple in Logoisk] told me, the key thing for us is to have peaceful rule. It is my job. Everything will be done to preserve peace in Belarus. If we have peace, we will buy the rest. We may not live a rich life but a decent one. As we do now. We don’t ask anyone for anything. We live within the money, the means, and capabilities that we realize in Belarus. This is why to preserve peace is the most important thing for us. If we don’t have peace, then we need nothing.”

As an example of what happens when peace is gone, Aleksandr Lukashenko referred to a neighboring country where people die in their thousands. “Do we need that? We don’t. This is why we will do everything to preserve peace,” the Belarusian leader assured.
