Lukashenko: EAEU integration should bring tangible benefits for Belarus

MINSK, 31 July (BelTA) – Every step on the path of integration within the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) should bring tangible benefits for Belarus, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said during a meeting with the heads of Belarusian diplomatic missions, BelTA has learned.
"The EAEU is already showing considerable results. The sanctions imposed against Russia became a test for the entire integration system. Overall, it has passed that test successfully. Given our presidency [in EAEU] this year, the Belarusian agenda within the integration framework must be fully implemented, and our priorities should be reflected in the EAEU’s development strategy for the next decade," the head of state said.

He noted that although some union partners aren’t always on the same page with Minsk, it’s important to prevent delays from their side when addressing common goals. "Every step in integration must bring Belarus tangible benefits. When we open our market, we expect equivalent advantages, not vague promises," the Belarusian leader emphasized.

The president cited the recent trade agreements with Mongolia and the United Arab Emirates in Minsk as examples, describing them as highly advantageous. Both countries have agreed to provide preferential regime for more than 90% of Belarusian exports.

According to Aleksandr Lukashenko, an agreement with Indonesia, a vast and promising market for Belarus, is expected to be signed by the end of the year. “Its leadership is genuinely interested in cooperation with Belarus,” he stressed.

He emphasized that Belarusian industries, together with the embassies, should already begin developing plans to supply goods to the mentioned countries under these new favorable terms.
