Lukashenko: Domestic microelectronics industry is doing well, but can do even better in 2025

MINSK, 14 February (BelTA) – Belarusian microelectronics has reserves to step up this year, to maximize production and increase exports, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said during a meeting to discuss the development of the Belarusian microelectronics industry on 14 February, BelTA has learned.

Aleksandr Lukashenko recalled that the development of domestic microelectronics was discussed in detail during his visit to Planar Group two years ago. Back then the decision was made regarding the niche in one of the most capacious segments of the global integrated circuit market.
“We will actively move in this direction and manufacture products of the highest quality. They will be in demand for many more decades to come, maybe even centuries. This is the basis for industrial electronics products, space, where the impact of radiation and radio interference must be taken into account. Together with our Russian partners, we have identified a critical element base for development. All this makes the basis of the program for the development of the microelectronics industry for the period up to 2030, and we are modernizing it within the framework of this program,” the head of state said.

According to him, over the past two years, almost Br500 million has been allocated for its implementation. It is planned to spend as much until 2030. The industry is expected to increase total revenue three to four times during the program implementation period.

The president asked about the progress in the program and whether there were any relevant changes and additions. “This is important to understand before the meeting with President Putin, so that we can adjust our steps and maybe add something. I have been briefed that certain results have been achieved. Foreign exchange earnings are growing, profits are increasing. Salaries at enterprises are 1,5 times higher than the national average. I'm sure there are reserves to step up and increase production and exports this year,” the Belarusian leader said.
