MINSK, 4 February (BelTA) – Unlike elections in the West, Belarus' elections are democratic, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he received a report from Prosecutor General Andrei Shved on 4 February, BelTA has learned.

“The election has taken place. I want to say thanks to people for supporting us. Your agency oversees the implementation of the law, so tell me if there were any significant violations during the election from your point of view. What else do we need to work on?” Aleksandr Lukashenko asked.

“We should not hold pseudo-democratic elections, like our people in the West do: they teach us what to do, but their elections are not always democratic and sometimes they are not held at all. We must do this in a very democratic way: this is the case when people decide everything. Therefore, from this point of view, were there any voting irregularities or anything that needs to be dealt with?” the president said.
