Lukashenko: Belarusian nationalists exiling abroad are turning into headache for host countries

MINSK, 21 January (BelTA) – Belarusian nationalists who fled Belarus are turning into the headache for the host countries, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he met with the labor collectives of Minsk Automobile Plant (MAZ trademark) on 21 January, BelTA has learned.

The president said that some of the opposition are self-exiled “mostly in Poland, Lithuania and are financed by Westerners, Americans.” “Ukrainians have become more cautious. There are Belarusian fighters there in Ukraine. Ukrainians do not let them close to the border as they are harboring plans to seize some areas in Belarus. Guys, they say, we don't need problems with Belarus. Meanwhile Poland and Lithuania are eager,” Aleksandr Lukashenko stated.

“Lithuania has another problem: Belarusian nationalists exiled there declared that Vilnius is the territory of Belarus. Vilna was indeed a Belarusian city. I say wait until Belarusian nationalists exiled in Bialystok declare this city and the neighboring areas in Poland the Belarusian lands too. The Lithuanians don't know what to do with them. They’ve lost some marbles. They are ready to take over some Lithuanian territory and annex it or create some enclave there and call it ‘Belarus 2’ or something else. And set up their puppet government there,” the president said.

“You invited them there, you deal with them,” Aleksandr Lukashenko added.
