MINSK, 6 April (BelTA) – Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko watched live coverage of the return of the Belarusian cosmonaut Marina Vasilevskaya and other members of the Soyuz MS-24 crew from the International Space Station. The head of state shared his emotions and worries with reporters, BelTA has learned.
“The heaviest emotions. Because I didn’t sleep well last night. I watched the undocking of the reentry module live,” the president said.
When asked whether he was worrying, Aleksandr Lukashenko said: “When your kids are in outer space, you will understand what it means when a Belarusian woman, a citizen of Belarus is in outer space. Certainly, I was responsible for anything that may have happened, god forbid. This is why I am certainly glad that everything went routinely. I rewatched the footage several times. I am very pleased that everything is over. And I thought to myself: well, I will not play this game anymore.”
BelTA reported earlier that the president congratulated the crew of the Soyuz MS-24 spacecraft on successful landing. The head of state invited the entire crew and the people, who had taken care of preparations for the flight, to visit Belarus as guests.
