Iranian president invited to visit Belarus

MINSK, 13 September (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has extended an invitation to Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to pay a visit to Belarus as he met with Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran Ali Akbar Ahmadian on 13 September, BelTA has learned.

“The Iranian people have recently suffered a great misfortune - your president has died. You have courageously passed this period, and have elected a new president. I congratulate you on this and ask you to tell your president that we are waiting for him in Belarus,” the head of state said.

In May 2024, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and a number of high-ranking leaders of the country were tragically killed in a helicopter crash.

Masoud Pezeshkian won the presidential election in July 2024. “The dialogue between Minsk and Tehran at all levels is steadily expanding. I am convinced that in the near future we will be able to implement all the agreements reached, including those on raising the level of the Belarusian-Iranian relations to a strategic partnership,” the Belarusian leader stressed in his message of greetings at the time.
