MINSK, 1 October (BelTA) - Belarus demonstrates commitment to nuclear security at the highest level, at the level of the head of state, IAEA Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi said during a meeting with Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko in Minsk on 1 October, BelTA learned.
First of all, Rafael Grossi thanked the Belarusian side for hospitality and warm welcome: “It is a great honor for me to be in Belarus with my deputies and my team. We are visiting your country to discuss a number of issues”.
“It is particularly gratifying for me to hear that the most serious commitment to nuclear security is expressed at the highest level, at the level of the head of state. This speaks of many things. First of all, it speaks to the professionalism that your country has gained on its long way to become a nuclear power,” Rafael Grossi emphasized.

The IAEA head also recalled his first visit to Minsk 12 years ago, when a nuclear power plant was yet to be built in Ostrovets. “Now it is a great pleasure to see that both units of the nuclear power plant are in operation,” he said.
