
MINSK, 27 March (BelTA) - On 27 March, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko approved the appointment of Dmitry Semyonov as general director of the Belarusfilm National Film Studio, BelTA learned.
Dmitry Semyonov worked as deputy head of the Culture Department of Minsk City Executive Committee.
In December 2024, when appointing Ruslan Chernetsky as Culture Minister, Aleksandr Lukashenko expressed the dissatisfaction with the state of affairs in the Belarusian cinematography.
“The most important art for us is cinema. But what is happening in our filmmaking is simply shameful and unacceptable. It has degraded. It has become a far cry of the Soviet cinematography when it got serious attention . I cannot say that we are not interested in it. But for some reason everyone only wants to earn money, but cannot make a good movie. Pay the most careful attention to this," Aleksandr Lukashenko pointed out them.
