MINSK, 4 March (BelTA) – Promoting diversification and increasing exports, including to distant countries, are the most important task for the State Authority for Military Industry, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he made appointments on 4 March, BelTA learned.
“For defense and security, this equipment is becoming more and more necessary. You need to delve deeper into this sector and manage it as well as you do the electricity industry which you are intimately familiar with,” the head of state said as he addressed the re-appointed Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Karankevich, who oversees the industrial sector.
“Promoting diversification, increasing exports, including to distant countries are the most important issue for the State Authority for Military Industry,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
He said he plans to attend a drone exhibition. “We need to step up in this sector. The demand is great. Ammunition is in great demand too,” the Belarusian leader said.
Aircraft construction is a new industry for Belarus. “This is one of the points of application. Russia is very interested in it and is ready to invest in it,” the president said.
