MINSK, 26 August (BelTA) – Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko signed decree No.335 “On providing cellular mobile telecommunication services” on 26 August, the press service of the Belarusian leader told BelTA.
With a view to improving the availability of cellular communications, including in rural areas, the head of state has decided in favor of enforcing mandatory requirements for the quality and coverage of the services mobile carriers provide. If these requirements are not met, the mobile carriers will be held to account.
In line with the document mobile carriers will be forced to spend part of the earnings on building new cell towers, on modernizing existing facilities, on financing other measures meant to develop their mobile communication networks, which will allow increasing the coverage area and the signal stability.
Apart from that, the presidential decree provides for introducing a basic welfare plan for natural persons. The state will control the cost of the plan. The mobile plan will be affordable for all categories of citizens.
