MINSK, 4 October (BelTA) - Zimbabwe will demand compensation from Lithuania for a batch of 17 fire trucks that were being transported from Belarus through Lithuania and that were confiscated by the latter, TASS reports citing the BNS agency.
"We are the legitimate owner of these vehicles, which has been unjustly affected by Lithuania's actions as a third party, and we will therefore demand compensation," the statement quotes Zimbabwe's Prosecutor General, Virginia Mabiza.
The case involving the seizure of the fire trucks, which were en route to the African country from Belarus, dates back to 2023 when the vehicles were detained at the Port of Klaipeda. Lithuania had intended to sell them at auction and transfer the proceeds to Ukraine. -
