MOSCOW, 16 February (BelTA) – The government of Poland acts in the interests of the USA, not the interests of its own people, official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Maria Zakharova said at a briefing as she answered a question why, in her view, Poland is hosting such a significant contingent of the U.S. troops, BelTA has learned.
“Unfortunately, for many years Polish politicians have not followed the real interests of the people of their country, but the interests, objectives and tasks that the United States of America has been setting for them. In my opinion, if you look at the map, you will see that it makes more sense to communicate directly with the neighboring state,” Maria Zakharova said.
“Yet, contrary to logic, geopolitics and strategy, we saw how many times the Polish establishment veered in a completely different, opposite direction,” she said. According to her, Poland disregards the interests of the organizations and associations where it is a member, but follows the guidelines of Washington.
Answering the question about the reasons why Poland is hosting American troops, she recommended addressing this question to the Polish side. “Let them tell you,” she said.
