MINSK, 11 November (BelTA) - The UAE is both an important partner and a good friend for Belarus, Chairwoman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Natalya Kochanova said as she met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the UAE to Belarus Ibrahim Salim Mohamed Almusharrekh on 11 November, BelTA has learned.
“I am sincerely glad to welcome you as the new ambassador to the Republic of Belarus in the Council of the Republic, and I am sincerely glad to meet you. In October 2022 we celebrated 30 years of diplomatic relations between our countries. First of all, I would like to note that over these years we have given a considerable impetus to our relations in absolutely all spheres of life. For Belarus, the UAE is an important partner among the Arab states of the Persian Gulf. I would like to add that it is not just a partner but a good friend. The leaders of our countries have established good and warm relations. Very important decisions have been taken during bilateral meetings and visits, which are successfully implemented today,” Natalya Kochanova said.
According to her, Belarus attaches great importance to inter-parliamentary cooperation with the UAE. “We are glad that we have a friendship group in the Belarusian parliament. We hope that the relationship between the MPs will be effective enough to develop ties between our countries. We are ready to meet with our counterparts in Belarus. We will be glad if our relations become more effective, and we really count on your help and support in this matter,” the speaker said.
“As for the trade and economic cooperation between our countries, we are pleased to note that the interaction is simply great today. It is important to note that we are developing our trade and economic cooperation not only in traditional areas but also looking for new points of contact in the economic sector. The investment component is very important today, of course. We are grateful to the Emirati side that we are implementing a number of investment projects. In May 2021 the Belarusian president signed a decree on implementation of Northern Waterfront investment project. Of course, we look forward to further cooperation on investment projects in our country,” said Natalya Kochanova.
