MINSK, 16 August (BelTA) - U.S. President Donald Trump stated that during the phone talks Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko told him of Russian President Vladimir Putin's readiness to reach an agreement regarding Ukraine. The American president made these remarks in an interview with Fox News.
According to TASS, Donald Trump told the TV channel that Aleksandr Lukashenko appeared “very positive” about the upcoming Russia-USA summit during their phone call.

“He [Aleksandr Lukashenko] is friends with President Putin, as you know, very, very close neighbors, and they work together. And he thinks that President Putin wants to make a deal,” Donald Trump told Fox News on the Air Force One flight to Anchorage, Alaska.

As previously reported, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko and U.S. President Donald Trump held a telephone conversation on 15 August. The two leaders discussed bilateral relations, regional issues, and situations in global hotspots including Ukraine. They agreed to maintain further contacts, with Aleksandr Lukashenko extending an invitation for Donald Trump and his family to visit Minsk, an invitation the U.S. president accepted.
