MINSK, 3 January (BelTA) – U.S. President Donald Trump stated at a press conference on 3 January that the operation in Caracas was executed perfectly, according to a report by BelTA.
“At my direction, the United States Armed Forces conducted an extraordinary military operation in the capital of Venezuela,” Donald Trump told reporters at his Mar-a-Lago residence.
According to him, the objective of the operation in Caracas was the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro. Donald Trump accused the Venezuelan leader and his wife of narco-terrorism.
He stated that the U.S. used force against a “fortress in the heart of Caracas” to bring to justice Nicolás Maduro, whom Donald Trump labeled a dictator.
According to the U.S. president, the U.S. is “ready to stage a second and much larger attack” in Venezuela.
Nicolás Maduro and his wife will face American justice, Donald Trump said. He confirmed that the Venezuelan president is now aboard a warship en route to New York.
Donald Trump said the U.S. will stay in Venezuela until there is a “safe transition” of power. “We’re going to run the country until such time as we can do a safe, proper and judicious transition.
“As everyone knows, the oil business in Venezuela has been a bust, a total bust for a long period of time,” claimed Trump. “We’re going to have our very large United States oil companies – the biggest anywhere in the world – go in, spend billions of dollars, fix the badly broken infrastructure, the oil infrastructure, and start making money for the country,” he added.
According to Donald Trump, under Nicolás Maduro “Venezuela was increasingly hosting foreign adversaries in our region and acquiring menacing offensive weapons” that could threaten the United States.
Donald Trump emphasized: “Under our new national security strategy American dominance in the Western Hemisphere will never be questioned again”.
“The American armada remains poised, in position, and the U.S. retains all military options until the US’s demands have been fully met and fully satisfied,” Donald Trump said.
“All political and military figures in Venezuela should understand that what happened to Maduro could happen to them – and it will happen to them if they aren’t just, fair, even to their people,” he added.
Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko strongly condemns the U.S. act of aggression against Venezuela, Belarusian President’s Press Secretary Natalya Eismont told BelTA. “The president of Belarus CONDEMNS IN THE STRONGEST POSSIBLE TERMS the act of American aggression against Venezuela,” the press secretary stated. “Aleksandr Lukashenko spoke about the consequences in a recent interview with American journalists. Specifically, he said that ‘this will be a second Vietnam’ and that the Americans don’t need that.”
The Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs also issued a statement on the situation: “The Belarusian side expresses its unwavering support for the legitimate government of Venezuela and joins the call for an urgent meeting of the UN Security Council, which bears the primary responsibility for maintaining peace.”
