MINSK, 9 February (BelTA) - Non-governmental organizations in Western countries are building up the capabilities to once again undermine stability in Belarus and change the constitutional order in the country, Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) said in a statement, TASS reports.
According to the SVR, non-governmental organizations in Western countries, including ‘democratizing’ organizations, agencies and foundations in the United States, the UK, Germany, Poland and some other European nations, are building up the capabilities to once again try to undermine stability in order to change the constitutional order in Belarus.
“Western actors plan to take careful stock of Belarusian opposition members to assess their potential use in subversive activities,” the SVR noted. It is expected that a resource pool will be formed “with a focus on the 2030 presidential election”.
According to the Russian intelligence agency, the plan is to find new passionate liberal activists inside Belarusian society in order to implement a color revolution scenario.
Simultaneously, the Russian SVR noted that the West fails to consider that Belarusian society, following the events of 2020, has “developed a strong 'immunity' against attempts to destabilize the country.” “Belarusians have before their eyes the examples of Ukraine, Moldova, and many other countries, destroyed in the name of advancing Western geopolitical ambitions under the guise of false slogans about defending democracy and human rights,” the statement reads.
It also noted that the West “hopes to weaken ties between Moscow and Minsk within the Union State”.
