MINSK, 15 August (BelTA) – The aircraft with President of Russia Vladimir Putin on board has landed in Anchorage, State of Alaska, USA where he will meet with the American leader Donald Trump later on, TASS reports.
It is the first meeting of Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump after the Republican president returned to the White House in January 2025. Apart from that, it is the first visit of a Russian leader to Alaska ever, including the time of the Russian Empire and the USSR.
The Russian delegation had to travel for over 7,000km and had to cross 11 time zones as well as the international date line.
The summit of the presidents of Russia and the USA will take place at the U.S. Air Force’s and U.S. Army’s Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson on 15 August. The resolution of the conflict in Ukraine will be the central theme of the talks. Attention will also be paid to bilateral relations between Moscow and Washington and to matters on the international agenda.
