PM: Belarus, Uganda need to set up committee to deal with joint projects

MINSK, 21 February (BelTA) – Belarus and Uganda need to set up a solid and efficient intergovernmental committee to discuss and facilitate economic projects, Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko said following his talks with Ugandan President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni during his official visit to Uganda, BelTA has learned.

According to the head of government, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko keeps saying: the history of humankind began in Africa and the future of humankind depends on it. “This is a unique continent that has enormous resources and potential. Uganda, as everyone knows, is the pearl of Africa. Africa has freed itself from the shackles of colonialism, but Western countries have not dropped the colonial mindset,” Roman Golovchenko said.

The prime minister believes that Western countries still see Africa as a source of resources for their economies and a market for their goods. “We in Belarus have a different approach: we come to you as partners and friends, we are ready to share everything we have. It is very important to put together a solid, efficient intergovernmental committee to discuss and support joint projects in the economic sector,” Roman Golovchenko emphasized.
