Minsk to host Belarus-Russia Union State PA meeting on 2 December

MINSK, 1 December (BelTA) – Minsk will play host to a meeting of the 61st session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State of Belarus and Russia on 2 December. The evens will be held as part of the first official visit to Belarus of Viacheslav Volodin as Chairman of the State Duma of the eighth convocation, BelTA learned from the press service of the House of Representatives.

The MPs will recognize the powers of the Parliamentary Assembly members delegated by the Federation Council and the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of Russia and will elect the chairman and deputy chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly. In addition, new members of the commissions will be approved and chairmen and vice-chairmen will be elected.

One of the main items on the agenda is the discussion of measures to implement Ordinance No. 6 “On the Guiltiness to Implement the Provisions of the Union State Treaty in 2021-2023" adopted by the Supreme State Council of the Union State on 4 November 2021.

The guidelines provide for a number of measures aimed at unifying, harmonizing and aligning the legislation of the member states of the Union State towards the following goals: a single structural macroeconomic policy and a common financial market, a single economic space and equal economic conditions, harmonized the tax and customs legislation, a single tax policy and a common trade and customs tariff policy in relation to third countries and international organizations, a coordinated policy in the field of labor protection, social protection of the population, pension provision, aligning civil legislation and determining the basis for creating the Union State property.

The MPs will consider the Union State integration programs and legislative support for their implementation.

The MPs are also set to look into the situation on the Belarusian-Polish and Belarusian-Lithuanian borders and the reaction of the European Union and other international organizations to the problem of international migration.
