
MINSK, 7 March (BelTA) – Myanmar is interested in cooperation with the Belarusian parliament, Chairman of the State Administrative Council, Prime Minister of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar Min Aung Hlaing said as he met with Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Igor Sergeyenko, BelTA has learned.
According to him, Myanmar seeks to build inter-parliamentary contacts with Belarus, especially in the context of the upcoming parliamentary elections in the country.
“Right now, our country does not have a parliament, but in the near future we will hold elections and form a parliament. Belarus has extensive experience in holding elections, and we need its support, expertise and knowledge,” said Min Aung Hlaing.
He emphasized that when a new parliament of Myanmar is formed, one of his priorities will be cooperation with the National Assembly of Belarus. “My visit to Belarus, meeting with you is the first step towards cooperation between the parliaments,” he added.
