
MINSK, 13 May (BelTA) - Belarus and Vietnam will strive to convert political will into concrete mutually beneficial trade and economic projects, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maksim Ryzhenkov said as he met with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam Bui Thanh Son on 12 May, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The meeting was held as part of the official visit of General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam To Lam to Belarus.
The parties discussed priority issues of the Belarusian-Vietnamese relations and interaction on multilateral platforms. “We have considered in detail ways to strengthen political and diplomatic ties, improve the efficiency of the existing mechanisms of cooperation, as well as develop and introduce new forms of interaction. Special attention was paid to the promising areas of work between the foreign ministries within the framework of the development and subsequent implementation of the cooperation roadmap between the two countries,” the ministry said.
The meeting emphasized the importance of continuing the practice of regular ministerial consultations as an effective form of control and audit of the implementation of bilateral agreements.
“The parties emphasized determination to convert political will into concrete mutually beneficial trade and economic projects for the benefit of the peoples of the two countries,” the ministry said.
The parties touched upon the issues of cooperation in the humanitarian affairs, including the strengthening of inter-human contacts, ties through academic, cultural circles and business communities. Both sides are interested in forming strong and sustainable ties at the national and regional levels, developing projects of direct interaction between citizens of the two countries.
The parties also exchanged views on certain issues of the regional and global agendas.
