MINSK, 22 October (BelTA) - The Belarusian economic model proves its efficiency and soundness, Chairperson of the Council of the Republic Natalya Kochanova said at the joint sitting of the House of Representatives and the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus on 22 October, BelTA has learned.
“Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has defined sustainable economic development as one of the key conditions for the sovereignty and independence of our country. Despite the sanctions pressure and other external challenges, the Belarusian economic model continues to prove its efficiency and soundness. In January-September 2024, almost all the most important parameters of the country social and economic development forecast have been fulfilled,” Natalya Kochanova said.
Developing a strong economy is a key task not only for the government but for all institutions of power, which today are obliged to operate at their best, the speaker said. “We, the MPs, in close cooperation with our colleagues from the government and local authorities should be proactive, creating the necessary legal conditions to ensure sustainable growth of the economy, its adaptation to new realities,” the chairwoman of the Council of the Republic stressed.
“In addition, as the head of state stressed, autumn is the time to take stock of what has been done and to build a strategy for the next year. Therefore, our most important task is to ensure a decent finish to this year and deliver a good start of the next one,” Natalya Kochanova added.
