Karasin: Global multipolarity is in the making

MINSK, 13 November (BelTA) - We are witnessing the dawn of the global multipolarity, Chairman of Russia's Federation Council Committee on Foreign Affairs Grigory Karasin said at a joint meeting of the foreign affairs commissions of the upper houses of the Parliaments of Belarus and Russia in Minsk on 13 November, BelTA has learned.

"We are closely cooperating within the framework of all organizations, including the CIS, EAEU, CSTO. Now we have started to cooperate within the SCO and BRICS," Grigory Karasin noted. "It is quite obvious that the world has entered a period of fundamental geopolitical changes. There is a profound transformation of international relations aimed at establishing a fairer world order. Today, we are witnessing the dawn of the global multipolarity."

According to him, the growing voice of the global majority has become the main trend: in Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and Latin America. "Today, the global majority advocates diversity of development paths, mutual respect for interests and national, religious and cultural values," Grigory Karasin emphasized. "We highly appreciate the results of the 2nd Minsk Conference on Eurasian Security. We are willing to provide the necessary support for further promoting Minsk as a new discussion platform.”

In the run-up to a joint meeting of the Standing Committee, Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of Belarus Natalya Kochanova and Chairman of the Standing Commission on International Affairs and National Security of the Council of the Republic of Belarus Sergei Aleinik met with Chairman of Russia's Federation Council Committee on Foreign Affairs Grigory Karasin. The parties discussed a wide range of issues on the bilateral agenda such as inter-parliamentary cooperation, trade, economic, social and humanitarian cooperation and also the international agenda.
