MINSK, 14 January (BelTA) - Humanitarian cooperation can actually drive forward mutual trade between Belarus and Azerbaijan, Ambassador of Belarus to Azerbaijan Dmitri Pinevich who was appointed to this position by the head of state on 14 January, told the media, BelTA learned.
The head of the diplomatic mission was asked about the ways, in his opinion, to step up trade between the two countries, which is already quite high.
“Azerbaijan is not just a partner for us, but a strategic partner,” Dmitry Pinevich remarked. “This is due to many factors. Despite the distance between us and the seemingly different historical backgrounds, we are very similar. We have similar mentally, we value each other, we value human life, we embrace the experience of previous generations. All these, coupled with the strategic cooperation momentum set by the leaders of our countries, we have good points of contact between the two countries”.
According to him, all areas of bilateral cooperation are well structured and were actualized during the recent visit of the Belarusian president to Azerbaijan. Two two countries primarily cooperate in the manufacturing sector, processing. “We actually have points of growth in humanitarian cooperation. No matter how paradoxical it may seem,” the ambassador said.
As an example, he cited the development of interaction between the healthcare systems of the two countries, cooperation in the pharmaceutics, biological industry, IT sector, educational programs, which in turn will give impetus to the development of intercultural ties. “If we create such comprehensive dynamics, across all points of contact, we will get the effect we want [in terms of higher mutual trade,” Ambassador Dmitry Pinevich noted.
In his opinion, cooperation in the pharmaceutical and biological industries is the most promising, as these areas have a very high added value. More so, the interest in cooperation is mutual and both countries have something to offer each other, the ambassador said. “This is a two-way road. Azerbaijan is a highly developed industrial, agrarian country. In each sector, whether it is industry or social sphere, they have their own achievements. They can be coupled with our achievements to launch new joint manufacturing facilities or new projects ranging from science to cultural ties,” Ambassador Dmitry Pinevich noted.
