FM: Russia expects Lithuania to comply with its international obligations regarding transit of goods

MOSCOW, 24 December (BelTA) – Russia expects Lithuania to comply with its international obligations regarding transit of goods, official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Maria Zakharova told a briefing in Moscow on 24 December, BelTA has learned.

Maria Zakharova recalled that the Russian Foreign Ministry has already voiced its concern over Lithuania's plans to restrict transportation of goods from Belarus, which may negatively affect the provision of Russia's Kaliningrad Oblast. "We hope that this will not happen," she said. “I think there are enough problems in the world without this. We hope that Lithuania will fully comply with its international obligations."

"Our position is very simple: any steps taken by Vilnius should not impede or in any way complicate the movement of Russian citizens or goods between Kaliningrad Oblast and the rest of Russia," Maria Zakharova said.
