MINSK, 26 February (BelTA) – Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maksim Ryzhenkov met with UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk in Geneva, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The parties had a critical exchange of views on the human rights situation in the world.
The minister stressed that Belarus will continue to resist the attempt to manipulate human rights instruments, which leads to the sharp deterioration of the situation with human rights in the so-called mature democracies, while the OHCHR, against this sad background, focuses on countries that are undesirable to the West, including Belarus.
Maksim Ryzhenkov invited the High Commissioner to visit Belarus to see the real human rights situation in the country.
