MINSK, 20 March (BelTA) - The cooperation between Belarus and Kyrgyzstan is gaining momentum in all areas, Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Anatoly Sivak said during a video conference meeting with Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Bakyt Torobaev  on 20 March, BelTA has learned.

The meeting was held to mark the signing of the roadmap for Belarus-Kyrgyzstan cooperation in 2025-2027.

"We cherish our bilateral relations with Kyrgyzstan. It is an important trading and economic partner for us in Central Asia. Our cooperation is picking up steam in all areas. We have similar approaches to addressing many pressing issues, both in a bilateral format and in the integration associations. We also hold similar views on many geopolitical processes," Anatoly Sivak stressed.
No topic is off-limits for Belarus and Kyrgyzstan. "We are always ready for an open dialogue on any matter of our cooperation. I believe you experienced this during our meeting in Bishkek in November 2024," Anatoly Sivak said addressing Bakyt Torobaev.

According to the deputy prime minister, the work of the intergovernmental commission is yielding significant results, as evidenced by the growth in mutual trade. "According to Belarusian statistics, in 2023, trade between our countries totaled over $160 million, growing by almost 1% year-on-year. In 2024, this figure rose by over 15%, exceeding $190 million. Progress is evident," Anatoly Sivak emphasized. "But we have agreed to move forward without resting on our laurels."

He pointed out that the cooperation roadmap is designed to provide additional impetus to mutual trade in goods and further industrial cooperation. "Our leaders have supported the proposal to reach $500 million in trade made during the latest intergovernmental commission meeting. We have an ambitious goal to strive for over the next five years," Anatoly Sivak stated. "It is a challenging benchmark, but I am confident that we can achieve it together. All the necessary preconditions are in place."

The roadmap outlines 77 activities, including the development of bilateral trade in goods and services, cooperation in the manufacturing sector, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, food and light industries and other areas.
