China embassy identifies top 10 events of Belarus-China cooperation in 2025

MINSK, 29 January (BelTA) – The Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the Republic of Belarus has determined the ten most important events that occurred in Belarus-China cooperation in 2025, BelTA has learned.

The process was organized online and anyone could express their opinion and select the ten events out of the suggested options.

In 2025 under the strategic leadership of Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko and Chinese President Xi Jinping, Chinese-Belarusian relations took a new leap forward and actively advance in all areas. To stress the importance of cooperation between our countries, the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the Republic of Belarus has identified the top 10 events that happened in Chinese-Belarusian relations over the past year.

The top ten events include a wide range of political, economic, parliamentary, cultural, and educational activities.

The most notable events in Belarusian-Chinese cooperation were the top-level meetings between President of the Republic of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko and President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping in Beijing and Tianjin on 4 June and 31 August 2025 where they exchanged views on the bilateral agenda, regional and international matters of common interest. The meetings defined a new direction for the development of the bilateral relations.

Among the most important events was the congratulatory message sent by Xi Jinping to Aleksandr Lukashenko on 27 January 2025 on the occasion of the latter’s re-election as president of the Republic of Belarus. In the message the Chinese leader noted that he was ready to make joint efforts with President Aleksandr Lukashenko to continue the traditional friendship between Belarus and China, deepen bilateral mutually beneficial cooperation, and promote the steady development of Chinese-Belarusian relations for the benefit of the peoples of both countries.

The top 10 events also included the joint participation of Aleksandr Lukashenko and Xi Jinping from 31 August through 3 September 2025 in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Tianjin and in commemorative events held in Beijing to mark the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese people’s war of resistance against Japanese aggressors and World War Two. It deepened Belarusian-Chinese cooperation within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, emphasized the right view of the history of World War Two, and strengthened the historical foundation of the century-old friendship between Belarus and China.

Three high-level Belarusian-Chinese events were also mentioned as particularly important. The second session of the committee on cooperation between the legislative bodies of Belarus and China was co-chaired by Chairwoman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Natalya Kochanova and Zhang Qingwei, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China. Li Xi, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Secretary of the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, visited Belarus and held talks with Dmitry Krutoi, Head of the Belarus President Administration. The 6th session of the Belarusian-Chinese intergovernmental committee on cooperation was chaired by First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus Nikolai Snopkov and Vice Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China Liu Guozhong. During these negotiations consensus was reached on the implementation of agreements between the two heads of state and on strengthening the bilateral cooperation.

The participation of the honor guard of the People’s Liberation Army of China in the army parade held in Minsk on 9 May to mark the 80th anniversary of the Soviet people’s victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 was also mentioned. Belarus and China jointly celebrated the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory.

Another important event was also mentioned: on 11-21 August 2025, upon the invitation of the Belarusian leader about 100 Chinese school students spent their vacations at the Zubrenok National Children’s Education and Recreation Center. The event contributed to the development of youth exchanges between Belarus and China and the strengthening of friendship between the two nations.

Among the most important events was the official opening of the National Football Stadium of the Republic of Belarus on 7 June. The stadium was built with technical and economic aid from China. This is an important project of technical and economic aid from China and a striking example of political mutual trust, business cooperation and rapprochement between the peoples of the two countries, reaffirming the Belarusian-Chinese friendship.

In 2025 within the framework of China’s chairmanship of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Belarus took part in a session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the SCO member states, conferences of the ministers of defense, education, and heads of ministries and government agencies of the SCO countries. It strengthened Belarusian-Chinese cooperation within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and contributed to the further development of the organization.

The Tea for Harmony festival held in Minsk on 31 May 2025 was also considered important. It demonstrated Chinese cultural traditions and folk customs, becoming sort of a brand for humanitarian exchange between Belarus and China.

The third session of the China-Belarus University Association held in Minsk on 14 October 2025 gave new impetus to the deepening of cooperation in education.

The top 10 events of 2025 were announced by Alina Grishkevich, Deputy Chairwoman of the Belarus-China Friendship Society, Honored Worker of Culture of the Republic of Belarus, and member of the Belarusian Writers’ Union, at a briefing hosted by the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China.

During the event the discussion focused on the development of the Belarus-China all-weather and all-round partnership, which continues developing rapidly, getting filled with new events and achievements.
