MINSK, 4 December (BelTA) – Chairman of the International Affairs and National Security Commission of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Sergei Aleinik met with Honorary Consul of the Republic of Belarus in the Swiss Confederation Hermann Alexander Beyeler on 4 December, BelTA has learned.
Hermann Alexander Beyeler has been Belarus’ honorary consul in Switzerland since 2019 and provides assistance with promoting Belarusian-Swiss cooperation, primarily in social affairs. The implementation of ongoing projects and promising projects was discussed during the meeting. The honorary consul underlined that cooperation will only grow more vigorous in the future.
“We have worked out ideas and strategies for the future and it will be possible to see their results very soon,” the honorary consul told reporters. He had been to Vitebsk the day before and shared his impressions of meetings in this city.
After the meeting Sergei Aleinik stressed: “We have had a thorough conversation and exchanged opinions about the interaction that has been going on for several years. We focused on the fields that are not susceptible to the restrictions, illegitimate sanctions enforced by European countries against Belarus. For many years the honorary consul has been facilitating the advancement of cooperation with medical institutions, including projects that are going on at premises of the republican applied science center for traumatology and orthopaedy.”
“A lot of work is being done with assistance of the honorary consul towards sport depoliticization and towards relieving our sport federations of the unfair restrictions on participation in international sport events, including the Olympic movement. This work goes on and produces results,” concluded the chairman of the International Affairs and National Security Commission of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus.
