MINSK, 1 November (BelTA) – The strength of the world lies in the diversity of state development paths, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maksim Ryzhenkov told the media following the 2nd Minsk International Conference on Eurasian Security held on 31 October - 1 November, BelTA has learned.
According to the minister, Belarus is drafting the Charter for Diversity and Multilateralism in the 21st Century together with Russia. Its content is, among other things, a subject for joint consultations.
"We would really like to include in the Charter the right to diversity of development paths: diversity of political systems, cultural traditions, ethnic diversity. You see that nowadays the West has a one-size fits all approach, and this causes a lot of resistance from the Global South. We need to realize that the strength of our planet lies in this diversity," Maksim Ryzhenkov said.
Another important topic is the non-application of restrictive measures. In addition, the document, according to him, should reflect the issues of resolving conflict situations. "This is about the non-use of force, the resolution of issues peacefully, the focus on de-escalation, demilitarization of the regions. Trillions are spent on weapons, while the world needs funds to fight hunger, disease, and technological disasters," the foreign minister said.
The charter is also expected to reflect the issues of combating cybercrime, cross-border crime, and the interaction of states to solve common global problems.
According to the minister, when the draft charter is prepared, including taking into account the discussions held at the conference, the initiatives of other states, the document will be submitted for broader discussion.

"So far, this is still the basis, the skeleton. When we have something similar to the draft, then, of course, we will begin to work out some elements with everyone in more detail," Maksim Ryzhenkov explained. “It is necessary to breathe a new life into the principles and approaches that were laid down in the documents of the UN system and the OSCE system."
