MOSCOW, 14 October (BelTA) – Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov met with Ambassador of Belarus to Russia Aleksandr Rogozhnik on 14 October, BelTA learned from the press service of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
"Sergey Lavrov warmly welcomed Aleksandr Rogozhnik, who assumed office in July. In a traditionally friendly atmosphere inherent to the Russian-Belarusian relations, the parties discussed a number of topical issues on the bilateral agenda, foreign policy interaction and integration process, including the upcoming meetings at the highest and high levels. The parties touched upon the preparation for a joint meeting of the collegiums of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Russia and Belarus this year and the second Minsk International Conference on Eurasian Security scheduled for 31 October-1 November," the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted.
"The parties paid special attention to the upcoming BRICS summit in Kazan on 22-24 October. Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko is set to participate in the summit as an invited guest of Russia," the ministry stated.
According to the press service of the Belarusian Embassy in Russia, the meeting also discussed the participation of Russia in the upcoming Minsk international conference on combating illegal migration. "The parties also discussed interregional cooperation and mutual expansion of diplomatic presence," the embassy noted.
