Belarus views development of cooperation with Indonesia as foreign policy priority

MINSK, 15 May (BelTA) - Belarus views the development of full-fledged cooperation with Indonesia as one of its foreign policy priorities, Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Karankevich said at the 8th meeting of the Belarusian-Indonesian joint commission on trade, economic and technical cooperation in Minsk on 15 May, BelTA has learned.

“Relations between our countries are developing dynamically thanks to the high level of trust between our presidents. Belarus views the development of full-fledged cooperation with Indonesia as one of its foreign policy priorities. No topic is off-limits for our countries. We share the common values of friendship and partnership based on mutual trust and respect. We have many shared interests,” Viktor Karankevich said.

The government of Belarus attaches particular importance to the activities of the Belarusian-Indonesian joint commission on trade, economic and technical cooperation as an important and effective tool for advancing bilateral cooperation.

Viktor Karankevich noted that since the last meeting in Jakarta, the parties have made significant strides in expanding mutually beneficial trade and economic ties and have elevated the level of co-chairmanship in the commission. Over the past year, bilateral trade has grown at a rapid pace.

“Our task is not only to maintain the results achieved but also to significantly increase them. We have the necessary potential for that. Only through joint, coordinated efforts will we be able to achieve even better results in the near future. Our meeting will allow us to synchronize our efforts, work out key bilateral documents, and identify areas where specific commercial contracts could be signed during the business forum planned as part of important upcoming bilateral events,” Viktor Karankevich said, adding that Belarus is ready to discuss all mutually beneficial aspects of bilateral cooperation in a spirit of trust.

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia Airlangga Hartarto emphasized that the meeting in Jakarta on 16 December 2025, provided an important foundation for developing and strengthening bilateral relations. “Today’s meeting will give impetus to development in various areas of economic, trade, and technical cooperation that will be mutually beneficial for both countries,” he said.
