Belarus, Uruguay hold ministerial consultations on political cooperation

MINSK, 12 March (BelTA) – The ministries of foreign affairs of Belarus and Uruguay have discussed political cooperation, BelTA learned from the press service of Belarus' Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The consultations were held during the visit of Belarusians to Uruguay. The two national delegations were headed by Belarusian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Yevgeny Shestakov and his Uruguayan counterpart Ariel Bergamino, respectively. The sides touched upon a wide range of matters, including political cooperation and interaction in international organizations. Special attention was paid to trade and economic cooperation and the expansion of legal framework.

Belarus and Uruguay reaffirmed their commitment to drafting visa abolition agreements for owners of internal passports and setting up a joint commission on trade and economic cooperation.

The sides also agreed to finalize a draft memorandum of understanding between the foreign ministries of Belarus and Uruguay on bilateral consultations in the nearest future.
