MINSK, 1 August (BelTA) - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela Andrei Molchan was received by President Nicolás Maduro of Venezuela as he is completing his diplomatic mission in the country, the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs told BelTA.
During the meeting, the parties discussed strengthening cooperation between Belarus and Venezuela across all areas of mutual interest.
Nicolás Maduro presented the ambassador with the Order of Francisco de Miranda, 1st Class, in recognition of his significant contribution to deepening bilateral relations between the two countries.
Diplomatic relations between Belarus and Venezuela were established on 4 February 1997. Venezuela opened an embassy in Belarus in December 2006. Belarus opened its embassy in Venezuela in October 2007. Despite the geographical distance, Belarus-Venezuela relations continue to be friendly. They are based on common views on the global order and many other issues on the international agenda.
