MINSK, 3 February (BelTA) – Becoming a full member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization is Belarus’ great achievement in international relations, Belarus’ Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Pavel Utyupin, who is finishing his mission as ambassador to Kazakhstan, told the Belarus 1 TV channel, BelTA informs.
Reviewing cooperation between Belarus and Kazakhstan, Pavel Utyupin said: “The bilateral relations kept gaining momentum year to year. Taking stock of our work in 2024, I would like to draw attention to multilateral results of cooperation, including with Kazakhstan, and the landmark events that are inscribed in the history of Belarus.”
“First, it was the launch [of a spacecraft] with our cosmonaut Marina Vasilevskaya on board from Baikonur, which is in Kazakhstan. This can be regarded as a joint project of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan. This is a landmark event that opens up huge prospects going forward,” the diplomat is convinced.
According to him, the second landmark integration event that also went down in history, was the summit of the heads of state of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization that was held under the chairmanship of the Republic of Kazakhstan. During that summit Belarus became a full member of this organization. “This is a great victory of Belarusian diplomacy. It is the result of our efforts to promote bilateral and multilateral relations, as we have received support from all the member countries of this authoritative organization. And thus Belarus became a full member [of this organization] and is actively implementing its initiatives,” said Pavel Utyupin.
He expressed confidence that “we will see appreciable results of cooperation” in the future.
