Gomel hosted events dedicated to Independence Day and the 80th anniversary of the country’s liberation from the Nazi invaders. A solemn rally was held on the Alley of Heroes. The participants of the rally honored the fallen soldiers with a minute of silence. Flowers and wreaths were laid at the memorial. Murals in honor of Hero of the Soviet Union Boris Tsarikov and Soviet pilot Galina Dokutovich were unveiled on Yakub Kolas Street.
