MOSCOW, 23 July (BelTA - TV BRICS) - Thailand’s Ministry of Culture has officially announced that the central pagoda of Wat Arun Ratchawararam in Bangkok has been added to UNESCO’s Tentative List of World Heritage Sites, initiating the formal process toward potential full inscription. This is reported by VNA, a partner of TV BRICS.

Located along the Chao Phraya River, the central pagoda of Wat Arun – also known as the Temple of Dawn – is one of Thailand’s most iconic religious and architectural landmarks. It is renowned for its design, historical value, and cultural symbolism within Thai society.

The Ministry of Culture has assigned the Fine Arts Department to lead the next phase of the nomination process. This will involve preparing a comprehensive nomination dossier, conducting detailed conservation planning, and implementing long-term site management strategies that align with UNESCO’s standards for heritage preservation.

Experts believe these efforts will ensure the structural integrity and cultural authenticity of the site are maintained while reinforcing Thailand’s broader goals of cultural sustainability and intergenerational heritage protection.
