Pyongyang is the capital and largest city of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, serving as the country’s political, cultural, and economic center. Its name translates as “broad land” or “comfortable place”. The city is known for its monumental architecture and was rebuilt almost from scratch after the Korean War. It is home to Kim Il Sung Square and the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun.
