Ukraine stops oil transit via Druzhba pipeline

MINSK, 26 April (BelTA) – Ukraine stopped the transit of Russian oil via the Druzhba main oil pipeline in the evening on 25 April. The relevant notification has been received from AO Ukrtransnafta, the company in charge of operating the Ukrainian oil transport system, representatives of OAO Gomeltransneft Druzhba told BelTA.

Due to the refusal of the oil custody transfer station Budkovce (Slovakia) to take oil and due to the lack of available capacity at the oil custody transfer station Fenyeslitke (Hungary) Ukrtransnafta has requested that oil pumping along the Mozyr-Brody oil pipeline should be stopped. When oil pumping will be resumed will be revealed later.

In view of this information Gomeltransneft Druzhba informed Bryansk that oil pumping along the Mozyr-Brody oil pipeline has been completed stopped.

Last week Belneftekhim reported a sharp decrease in the quality of the Russian oil mixture Urals flowing in transit into the main oil pipeline section operated by OAO Polotsktransneft Druzhba. The oil pipeline system Druzhba delivers oil not only to both Belarusian oil refineries but also to Europe via Belarus in two directions – across Poland and Ukraine. On 24 April Poland stopped oil transit via the Druzhba oil pipeline system for an indefinite period of time due to the refusal of Polish and German oil refineries to process poor-quality Russian oil.
