MINSK, 2 December (BelTA) – The program that offers loans for buying Belarus-made goods has proven its efficiency and demand. Prime Minister of Belarus Roman Golovchenko made the relevant statement on the air of the First News TV channel, BelTA has learned.
Roman Golovchenko said: “The program has proven its efficiency and demand. We track the dynamics every week. It is stable and even demonstrates a small uptick trend.”
Belarusians most often use these loans to buy furniture. They also buy flooring materials, windows, metal doors, refrigerators, stoves, and gas boilers. Wood pellet boilers have recently been added to the list. They are also in demand.
“The program will stay in place in 2025, too,” the prime minister assured. “Some items may be added and some may be excluded. But only those, which don’t enjoy demand. It is also very important for us to ensure manufacturing localization as much as possible.”
BelTA reported earlier that on 29 December 2023 the Council of Ministers passed resolution No.992 on consumer lending in order to stimulate the development of retail trade, including in the regions, and in order to offer more comfortable terms for buying goods to the population. Consumer loans to buy Belarusian goods are available only from Belarusbank for now. A loan can be taken out for a period of three years under the fixed interest rate of 4% per annum to buy goods of Belarusian make. The list of such goods and the list of the relevant manufacturers were expanded upon requests of manufacturers and consumers this summer. The duration of the program was extended till the end of 2025.
