Petrishenko to take part in Eurasian Economic Commission Board session

MINSK, 27 October (BelTA) – Deputy Prime Minister, member of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) from Belarus Igor Petrishenko will take part in the videoconference of the EEC Board on 29 October, BelTA learned from the press service of the government.

The 44-point agenda of the session covers such matters as technical regulations, the use of navigation seals, liberalization of certain types of services, import duties and many more. At the initiative of the Belarusian side, the meeting will consider establishing a zero import duty in the single Customs Tariff of the Eurasian Economic Union for certain types of motor vehicles with an electric engine. The purpose of this move is to create an electric vehicle market in Belarus and other EAEU countries with a view to promoting the production of electric vehicles and facilitating the development of charging infrastructure, and increasing the energy efficiency of transport in the territory of the EAEU.

The zeroing of import duties for certain types of transformers for microwave ovens will also be on the agenda. The main consumers of these products are Belarusian enterprises Midea-Horizont and Vityaz, the largest manufacturers of microwave ovens in the EAEU.

There are plans to consider a draft agreement on the use of navigation seals to track traffic in the Eurasian Economic Union. The document is to be forwarded to other EAEU member states to carry out domestic procedures required for signing. The parties will also discuss the draft agenda of the meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council to be held in Almaty on 10 December.

In addition, the members of the EEC Board will discuss the action plan to establish fair tariffs for cellular services in international roaming in the EAEU countries.
