Osama Hamad names Belarus’ products that are most in demand in Libya

MINSK, 1 July (BelTA) – There is a great demand for Belarusian industrial products in Libya, in particular for tractors and firefighting equipment, Prime Minister of the Libyan Government of National Stability Dr. Osama Hamad told journalists while visiting Minsk Tractor Works (MTZ trademark), BelTA has learned.

On 1 July the Libyan delegation headed by Osama Hamad toured Minsk Tractor Works to see the company’s product offering.

“Earlier, we have reached a number of agreements regarding the supply of various types of equipment. In our country, there is a high demand for Belarusian industrial products, in particular tractors and firefighting equipment. Today, we have had the opportunity to see Belarusian products with our own eyes. We have seen for ourselves that the Republic of Belarus has very advanced technologies. We are ready to transfer them to Libya. This cooperation will benefit us. We can sign bilateral documents formalizing our plans today or tomorrow. We have already discussed cooperation prospects in the energy sector and petrochemistry, and the possibility of improving the telecommunications network in Libya,” said Osama Hamad.

He went on saying that Libya is ready to launch joint production with Belarus. “The amount of equipment we purchase will depend on the needs of Libyan users, as well as on the capacity of Belarusian manufacturers. Libya's needs are growing. We have seen that the quality of Belarusian products is high and we are confident that they will be given access to the Libyan market,” the prime minister emphasized.

Belarusian Industry Minister Andrei Kuznetsov remarked that Belarus will assist Libya with developing its agricultural sector, as well as create a joint venture to produce certain models. “I think that this will be a win-win partnership,” the minister added.
