One District, One Project delivers 25 projects in Mogilev Oblast over five years

MOGILEV, 13 February (BelTA) - During the past five-year period, 25 projects were implemented in Mogilev Oblast under the One District, One Project initiative, creating 1,100 jobs and utilizing about Br1 billion in investment, Head of the Belarus President Administration Dmitry Krutoi told the media following a meeting of the Mogilev Oblast Executive Committee. The main topic of the meeting was the social and economic development of the region for 2025, BelTA has learned.

According to Dmitry Krutoi, formally the program targets have been met in terms of the number of districts covered. However, the head of the President Administration noted several issues: old projects are being passed off as new ones, and some projects were carried over to the next five-year cycle due to delays with contractors and the procurement of equipment.

Today, the chairpersons of the district executive committees have been tasked with finding new projects, taking into account the extension of the initiative into the next five-year period. Special potential is seen in small and medium-sized businesses: out of 140 organizations participating in the import substitution program, half represents small and medium-sized business. The region fulfilled the government's import substitution target at the level of $1.1 billion.

Dmitry Krutoi addressed the further development of the southeastern part of Mogilev Oblast. Seven districts participated in a special program under an individual decree of the president. Although the formal term of the program expired in 2025, the president will be proposed to extend the tax and other preferences until 2030.
"A great many projects were implemented under this decree. It became a very good support for the economy,” Dmitry Krutoi added.
