No signs of decline in gross agricultural output in Belarus in 2023

MINSK, 30 January (BelTA) – Belarus’ gross agricultural output showed no signs of decline in 2023, Belarusian Agriculture and Food Minister Sergei Bartosh said at a meeting of the collegium of the Agriculture and Food Ministry held on 30 January to review the performance of the country’s agro-industrial complex in 2023 and set tasks for 2024, BelTA has learned.

“The year 2023 was not easy for the agro-industrial complex of Belarus. However, annual state support, rapid response measures and hard work of farmers ensured no decline in the country’s gross agricultural output,” Sergei Bartosh said.

According to him, in 2023 the agro-industrial complex got bigger support from the consolidated budget, 29% more than in the previous year. More preferential loans were attracted to finance production activities (up 16% from 2022).

“In 2023, the index of industrial production in comparable prices amounted to 105.9% from 2022 according to the system of the Agriculture and Food Ministry,” the minister added. “Last year, agricultural output grew 1.1% in all categories of farms and 2.2% in agricultural organizations. The indicator exceeded 3% in three regions (Brest, Gomel and Grodno),” the minister said.
