MINSK, 23 October (BelTA) - The Industrial and Entrepreneurship Development Corporation of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast will provide comprehensive support to the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE) in organizing events aimed at boosting exchange trading between Belarus and this Russian region. The parties signed a cooperation agreement to formalize their commitment to consolidating efforts in attracting Nizhny Novgorod business to the Belarusian exchange platform. The document was signed by Ivan Razuvaev, Director of the Industrial and Entrepreneurship Development Corporation of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, and Irina Narkevich, Deputy Chairperson of the BUCE Board, during the Belarusian delegation's visit to Nizhny Novgorod, BelTA learned from the BUCE press service.

It is planned that, with the support of the Nizhny Novgorod Oblast’s Industrial and Entrepreneurship Development Corporation, specialized online seminars on exchange topics will be conducted. These seminars aim to raise awareness of small and medium-sized enterprises in Nizhny Novgorod Oblast about the possibilities of using the BUCE instruments in their export-import activities.

Furthermore, issues of strengthening cooperation with Russian regions in the field of electronic exchange trading were discussed during the 6th international foreign economic activity forum “Challenges and Solutions for Business: A Territory of Successful Practices” which was held in Nizhny Novgorod. Speaking at the roundtable “Strengthening the Role of Russian Regions in Foreign Economic Activity”, Irina Narkevich emphasized the significant contribution of regional business to maintaining the positive momentum in exchange trade between Belarus and Russia.

“This year, companies from 61 Russian regions have made deals on our trading platform. This is 11 more than last year, indicating the growing demand for the exchange mechanism among Russian business. Notably, these are not only representatives from the business communities of Moscow Oblast or Leningrad Oblast but also enterprises from Tatarstan, Khakassia, and the Belgorod, Kaliningrad, and Kemerovo regions. All the mentioned regions are among the leaders in the volume of exchange trade with Belarus. As a result, in January-September, the transaction volume by Russian residents on our platform rose by 19% year-on-year,” Irina Narkevich said.

In January-September 2025, the total transaction volume of Nizhny Novgorod companies on the Belarusian exchange increased by 43%, reaching $3.5 million. Exports from Belarus to the region included cellular concrete blocks and wet-salted cattle hides. Major imports from Nizhny Novgorod Oblasy were tubular steel, steel wire, industrial equipment, and plastic products.  Currently, 97 business entities from the region are accredited with BUCE.

Founded in 2004, the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange conducted its first trading session in June 2005. BUCE is one of the largest commodity exchanges in Eastern Europe. Its main function is to assist Belarusian enterprises with export and foreign companies with entering the Belarusian market. BUCE sells a wide range of metal, forestry and agricultural products, industrial and consumer goods.
