MINSK, 12 December (BelTA) – Belarus is busy ramping up the export of tractor assembly kits to Cuba, the press service of the Development Bank of the Republic of Belarus (DBRB) told BelTA.

The first ever batch of MTZ tractor assembly kits was delivered to Cuba in 2024 with the DBRB’s financial assistance. “Products made by the Belarusian manufacturing sector had been shipped to satisfy needs of the agriculture of the Latin American country before but in an assembled state. The realization of this pilot project has allowed reaching a new level of cooperation and stepping up integration in economic relations of the two countries,” the press service said.

Cuba President Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez visited the Heroes of 26 July factory in the city of Holguin and praised the first MTZ tractor assembly project. The agricultural machines will help agrarians bolster the country’s food security and the wellbeing of the Cuban nation.

DBRB Chairman of the Board Sergei Stolyarchuk and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Cuba to Belarus Santiago Perez Benitez met at DBRB premises on 11 December. The parties discussed trade and economic relations between the two countries.

During the meeting DBRB Chairman of the Board Sergei Stolyarchuk said: “Belarus and Cuba have established strategic partnership on the basis of equality and respect for each other’s interests. Our countries have a huge potential for stepping up bilateral interaction. Cuba is interested in our food products and agricultural products. This is why together with domestic manufacturers the Development Bank continues working hard to satisfy this demand and reinforce mutually beneficial cooperation of the two countries.”

The Development Bank of the Republic of Belarus, Minsk Tractor Works (MTZ trademark), and Cuban colleagues have begun implementing the second project for financing shipments of Belarusian tractor assembly kits, tractors, and spare parts to satisfy needs of Cuba’s agriculture.
