Mogilev District investment forum attracts visitors from Russia, China, Türkiye

MOGILEV DISTRICT, 19 September (BelTA) – The investment forum “Mogilev District – a territory of opportunity”, held on 18 September, brought together representatives from Belarus, Russia, China, and Türkiye, BelTA has learned

The forum serves as a versatile platform for showcasing the economic potential of Mogilev District, presenting investment proposals, and supporting entrepreneurship.
“I’m confident that the Mogilev District investment forum has become the district’s calling card and now holds the status of an international business venue. Over six years of its existence, more than 130 official documents have been signed, totaling over Br650 million, along with 32 export contracts for local products and 34 cooperation agreements,” noted Dmitry Mudrogelov, Chairman of the Mogilev District Executive Committee.

The forum featured a presentation highlighting the district’s capabilities. Mogilev District boasts a growing manufacturing industry and diversified agriculture, supported by the necessary infrastructure for investment activity. “We’ve created highly favorable conditions for launching new businesses and production facilities. Our stable, transparent, and progressive investment legislation guarantees protection for investors,” Dmitry Mudrogelov said. “The district’s investment appeal is further enhanced by its advantageous geographic location, the presence of a section of the Mogilev Free Economic Zone, a qualified workforce, a favorable investment climate, and a range of other advantages. Businesses recognize these benefits and are actively expanding across nearly all sectors of the economy.”
Among the core sectors represented by enterprises in Mogilev District are meat and dairy production, woodworking and wood products manufacturing, metal structures, technical carbon, construction materials, personal hygiene products, and both retail and wholesale trade in food and petroleum products. Many of these companies are well known far beyond the region and even outside Belarus. “In the current environment, the geography of foreign economic activity among Mogilev District enterprises spans more than 40 countries. The Russian Federation has been and remains our primary external economic partner,” Dmitry Mudrogelov said. “Over the past four years alone, our district’s trade with Russia nearly doubled, now accounting for 60% of total turnover.”

Natalya Fedorova, head of Pskov District in Russia’s Pskov Oblast, noted that domestic markets in Belarus and Russia have become even more closely integrated. “This cooperation is evident in every sector and direction, even at the level of our municipalities, which may seem like small fragments of our two states. But this kind of interaction is both important and necessary,” she said. “Today, we have business representatives and major enterprises in the room. Authorities and local governments are closer to business than ever before. And most importantly, we are doing all of this together: for people, for improving quality of life, and for the development and prosperity of our countries.”

Following the plenary session of the forum, six memorandums of intent were signed for the implementation of investment projects.
